William Bowers - Soundtrack #2

Another one from Already Dead Tapes, a bit different than anything else I've ever had on here; this one is an ambient album. The songs leave you in an almost brain-dead state, clearing the mind of all but subconscious thought. Your breathing slows; you float. It's like a soundtrack to cloudwatching; but hey, the label describes it better than I ever could:

William Bowers works primarily in synthesizer, tape, piano, and musique concrete to form a very desolate, cold ambiance. Drawing heavy influence from composers such as Basinski, David Lynch, Philip Glass, and Silas Ciarán, Bowers focuses on mood and atmosphere versus technical composition.

Already Dead Tapes, from their catalog that I've heard so far, has been squeezing out awesome experimental noise/rock/whathaveyou, but being relatively new, I'm getting excited to see what else they'll have to offer in the future. You can listen and download it from here:

Streets of Rage - EDQ

It's been a long time since I really enjoyed a new hardcore/punk band playing an old-school style, the last one coming to mind is maybe Surf Nazis Must Die. Maybe.... Streets of Rage are fitting into that category of long-lost raw energy, ladies n' gents. Sounding like a sort of cross between old Descendents and Flag of Democracy, they bring back nostalgic memories of hanging out in front of Cumberland Farms getting slushies and Hot Pockets and just plain not giving a fuck.

All the songs are real short and energetic, with subject matter ranging from blowing a chance with a cute girl to looking to the future, and other Milo-esque rants. When I hear music like this, I just can't help thinking back to a time of my life where every weekend was an adventure, a road trip, and an excuse to abuse our freedom as minors (cuz we're all 18 eventually).

bbigpigg - Phantom Photography EP

bbigpigg out of Brooklyn, NY is a noise-rock band, and they're just fine with that. They remind one of Arab on Radar, AIDS Wolf, and Child Abuse, with swinging lazer-guitars and fat bass, constantly colliding with each other, with only a mid-tempo drumset to hold it together. Sprinkled atop is what I can only describe as "that faded jeans' megaphone sound" type vocals, shouting out prose and speculation on the like of everyone's angsty problems. You know, trees, sex dolls, and the like.

bbigpigg seems to go for the more danceable approach in their realm of sound while still upholding the standard abrasiveness that you might come to expect from self-proclaimed noise-rockers. I feel as though the album goes on for way longer than its just-short-of-16-minutes existence, making for a nice lengthy groove to move to. They had a very nice press kit, too... Divorce Party - Astrocongertion Oporium

It's about due time that my motivational lapse has come to an end. I suck, I know, sorry guys...Divorce Party had asked me to review their first demo way back sometime in 2010 (I believe) and now, halfway through this wondrous year, I am getting off my lazy ass (figuratively speaking, of course) and finally gettin' this shit public, yo.

I'm actually glad that I waited, in one way at least, for this group of Michigan-ites pull together even better recordings than on the last one. Taking dancey rock forms and blending it with hard electronics and synth sounds, the songs chirp and bend jaggedly, more spasm than song at times.

Every song feels like it's trying to rip itself apart. Evey claustrophobic note takes you further into their racing rhythm, leaving very little room to breathe. And to top it off, the entire EP is only about 10 minutes long. Having never seen these guys live, I can only imagine, but I feel like their live performance might be on par with a Red Bull-induced heart attack. Wicked awesome, dood! (and other Boston-bro terminology).

Check them out if you're into the likes of DD/MM/YYYY and Gay Beast, but also if pulling into new areas of sound happens to be your thing. You know what? Just give 'em a listen and like it.

Forget the Times - Escape from the Planet of Llamas

Out of Kalamazoo, MI, come these folks, dubbing themselves FORGET THE TIMES, wielding their swaying rhythms of broken guitar melodies and jazzy swagger. At times completely chaotic, other times slightly more relaxed (slightly), but all the while a feeling of panic and confusion soaks the songs. For free improv, jazz influenced noise rock, these guys is hip.

Escape from the Planet of Llamas was released on cassette by Already Dead, a recently new tape and vinyl label also based out of Kalamazoo, MI, co-run by Sean Hartman of this very band. The first two songs, 'Early Morning Rabbit Hole' and 'Ponchos and Python Boots,' fully let the listener know what they're in for; the tight spasms of three layered guitars and a lone drummer, all attacking each other for control over the bystanders' ears. This in turn moved onto the epic 12 minute jam, 'Beau Soleil Moon Frye,' and the most frantic song on the album, 'Flying V Gtr Made Of Real Live Honking Geese.' Every now and then you can catch a glimpse of some of their influences, namely U.S. Maple or Captain Beefheart for the off-kilter songs and harmony. A great part of me hears some Gorge Trio thrown in there, with the improv jams of a constructed nature.

The album plays out like a post-apocalyptic landscape, constantly mutating and adapting itself to destroy us. But the beauty is, you can listen to the entire thing on their bandcamp, RIGHT NOW! Moisture Throne - DEEP

Here is one great little album/song from the two Cruiser pals, but what a huge difference. Encompassing everything epic, tropical, progressive and amazing, this roughly 25 minute track will make your ears spin. However, the only thing that this group has in common with Cruiser is the drummer, whereas the guitarist has moved over to play bass. They are joined by two friends, one joining in on guitar, the other sporting a shiny new keyboard, and all joining in on vocals.

This has been one of the biggest surprises to come my way in some time, further restoring the faith that not everyone has dried up. I vote this, on a scale from 1 to 10, a "Super Whoa."

I am going to be working on getting a ton of shit re-organized on this little ol' site o' mine, I'm honestly getting tired of doing it the way I have been (not to mention all those days without any new music updates...sorry). I'd much rather be into letting unknown bands get some extra exposure than just posting stuff I like. So, I'm going to declare/warn you folks right now, a lot of the music on here may disappear. I'm going to put together a giant post with links to the music, so you will still be able to access them, but the posts themselves will die. Some of the music itself will be deleted, either dead links or stuff you can get anywhere, and you don't need my shabby help to find. I've looked at some of the things I've posted since I began and I just want to shed some extra weight. Coming together in a whirl of skewed dissonant harmony, with songs barely going over the 2:30 mark. Clan of the Cave Bear/Self Destruct Button 7"

I haven't scanned the artwork, which is unfortunate, since there are great drawings on each side. But you should be here for the music. CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR, from Cleveland, OH, do a two-man progressive grind/metal/noise thing that not too many folks could compare to. Got this when I saw them with Upsilon Acrux and Stats in Brooklyn at Death by Audio. They RULE live. SELF DESTRUCT BUTTON, also from Cleveland, do melodic, yet abstract rock. Off kilter as hell, you might want to listen to that for a few times, just to soak it in as much as possible. Also, additional info on either band would be much appreciated. They're both pretty elusive.

Tumbleweave are from West Palm Beach, Florida. Yes, that's really the name of this album. Don't hurt yourself. This is some great electronic music, if you ask me. I know too many bands that have a completely zonked out sound. This band from Dublin, Ireland are one of my newfound favorites. I only have this single 7" EP from them, but am looking for anything else I can lay my hands on. They mix weird industrial punk rhythms and fuzzed guitars, spacy electronics, all reminding me of early Butthole Surfers crossed with L7 (go figure). I only know one of the song names (there isn't any track list anywhere). This was released in a run of only 300 copies. Definitely worth your time.

Mother Night - Extinct Dialects

When I get requests, I gotta be honest, I get to hear some terrible terrible stuff. But it's every once in a while that I get to hear a band that has some amazing songs, and thankfully, these guys fit the latter. These songs are all instrumental, yet defying a typical progressive style by having their songs under 20 fucking minutes long. Huzzah!! On top of that, the songs are all great, with groovy catchy hooks, driving drumbeats, and a few psychedellic moments peppered throughtout. Definitely worth a listen or two, and deserves a place next to Stinking Lizavetta (actually digging these tunes more so than the SV's).

Werewolves - Grind Melon EP

Upon posting the Call Me Betty EP earlier this week, I recieved an e-mail from Geoff from Werewolves, the band that Call Me Betty had done a split 7" with. He delivered a juicy little EP, with some crazy hardcore, filled with catchy, brutal vocals, (a fine example would be the track " Knuckleheadin' ") some nice thrashy grinding parts, and plenty of harsh hardcore anthems. These guys must have been insanely great live, you can actually realize the energy in the room just from the recording. Not to mention, some of the most hilarious album artwork I've seen in a long time. This is one you need to check out, definitely.

Call Me Betty - der Gini-Koeffizient EP

Total whoa band. I wish I lived in Germany, if bands like this exist everywhere. The more I look, the more bands I find that blow me away. Call Me betty is now sadly defunct, leaving behind quite a string of releases, at least they were extremely productive, like most German bands nowadays. Unfortunately I only have this and their split 7" with a band called Werewolves. I haven't looked into Werewolves much... Oh, I guess you're wondering about the music, huh? Well, they play a crazy combo of hardcore and explosive grind, like a faster and WAAAAAAY more chaotic A Fine Boat, That Coffin! without the screamo element so much.

Mondo Gecko/D9 Split LP

Two bands on one great slab o' wax, goes the saying. Both are hailing from Israel, this was put out between Urban Decay Records, To Live A Lie Records, and a couple others that escape me at the moment. It's still in print, just ask the bands or labels for copies!! Mondo Gecko offer up some great hardcore punk, with that great skate-thrash sound that reminds me of Hated Youth and Third Death mashed together. D9 come up with some down-tempo grind, with some really harsh sounding vocals. This shit is heavy as hell. 7 songs from each band, so you don't feel gypped, and this is definitely a great introduction to some Israeli hardcore to those that aren't too up on the whole scene.

Cruiser - Sunshine Woman

Good old Portland, OR. I can't beleive this band has only two people in it. This is some of the craziest two-man stuff I've ever heard, in that there isn't any loops being deployed at any time. One track, "Frampo," sounds like there are four or five different guitar parts going on at the same time, but still.. NO LOOPS!!! All finger-picked guitar work (unless I got even more wrong information), with some killer drums to boot. They had this posted for free on their bandcamp page (cruiserdudes.bandcamp.com), I just separated the tracks and uploaded it to mediafire. I think I did it right; I think I might've gotten some of the song names wrong, since the scan of the track list was kind of difficult to make out. There are a few interludes in between a few songs, also. This was self-released in a run of 100 tapes. They're all gone now, so just enjoy their great music.

Vacuum Tree Head - Thirteen! Album Review

I have no idea how many people actually have heard of these guys before, how popular they are, etc. but they remain one of the most creative and strange bands to exist. Their newest album, THIRTEEN!, is by far some the best material I've heard by them. This is also one of the best productions I've ever heard on an album, PERIOD (you might disagree with me, but my speakers have never spewed better sounding clarity before this). These songs sound more stuctured than some of their other albums, such as Excel (Eye Eye), or The Oob Eye Works, and is definitely the shortest output, clocking in at about 20 minutes. But what a release!!

Explaining this band to someone new is almost impossible. The songs can't really be described in words, unless you describe each individual song in its own giant paragraph. They mash together orchestral and arabian themes, some flamenco and electronica thrown in, and while previous efforts were somewhat loosely written, probably to allow for a good deal of improvisation, these songs are a lot more tight-knit. You can hear a number of other influences, ranging from Frank Zappa and Sun Ra to King Crimson and Led Zeppelin. Even throw in a few early hardcore punk bands, such as Black Flag and Husker Du. They mash together such a wide range of musical sounds and turn it all into something completely their own, making the entire concept behind the band completely genius.

This album was recorded between 2002 and 2009, (ironic enough, this being as short as it is) with 15 songs ranging from 24 seconds to just under 3 minutes. Along for the ride are musicians from a load of other avante-garde groups such as Moe Staiano (from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) Rich Corny and Justin Markovits (from Interstellar Grains), and Keith Abrams (from Time of Orchids), among a lot of other great musicians. Not to mention the VTH crew, featuring the band's brainchild Jason Berry on woodwinds, synthesizers, percussion, and more, vocalists Sylvia Gordon and Lucy Foley, and Charles Lloyd and Michael de la Cuestra on sitar, guitars, and more. This is not an album to be missed by anyone with a sweet tooth for the abnormal, the other-worldly, or just the plain curious.

Anisette - FROOT SALUD EP

So, if you've never heard of Anisette...you're probably new to the site. I talk about these guys a lot. The last time was about their tour, and along with that, almost the same exact tour CD posted here, entitled Fruit Salad. Well, after said tour, they ran into some stupid snags involving their drummer, and, long story short, with all the drama unattached, this is their re-recorded EP, better quality than the last (A LOT BETTER QUALITY) and all done with a new drummer (formerly of the grind band Hayworth, out of Rhode Island). Winning is a very odd band. This is their first release, and I'm not sure how to review this one at all...I guess they're an indie alternative band that was dropped, and now is broken. Think a broken music box that still plays but doesn't sound...right... They pull it off with ease, and honestly I'd recommend this to ayone who likes Calabi Yau or U.S. Maple. A much more laid back sound.

Idolss - I'm Not Ice Cream Demo

Idolss are from Dayton, Ohio. They play a unique technicalish-style hardcore reminiscent of Daughters and early Locust (think the Man is the Bastard split, the stuff before there were any keys), and a little bit of Faeries thrown in there. Not a bad mixture, and not a copy-cat band either. These guys are 100% legit, and on their own terms. They get into some of the sweetest grooves I've heard in awhile (check out 'Swazi' at about 2:20) and some really great drumming and guitarwork on top of that. Let's expect some great stuff from them in the future!

I guess you could call these guys 'no-wave' which is just a cop-out for lack of a better label, really. They're on some indefinite hiatus, so they might get back together, or maybe not. I can't really find it anywhere, although there was a copy of it on ebay. I guess that's good enough...

By the way, I can't beleive I missed it, but Aerosols DID have a new LP out. I wish I looked harder. Just found a couple of copies on ebay, also. It was a 14 song LP with a fourth 7" EP included. And just like my luck, it sold out on the day it came out. It's supposed to be getting a repress, so keep tabs on it!

Here's one strange change of music for your ears. Some people that come across this don't seem to like it, but whether or not you do is up to you. This is a one-man band, playing drums, guitar, and doing vocals, looping and tweaking everything with effects, creating creepy, psychedelic, off-melodic soundscapes. Even if this stuff isn't your bag, it's definitely some out-there music. The real kicker to this is he plays everything LIVE. There isn't anything that you hear on this EP that you won't hear in person. Extremely experimental (rock? dance? noise? who knows?)

Some odd name, huh? This is a powerviolence band from the ultimate depths of Ukraine. Usually I get a few demos a month e-mailed to me, and a lot of the time I don't even post them, thinking, "oh, this is fucking shit." Sometimes I post the shit ones, but not too often...I'm glad to say that this band is fucking AMAZING! More like a sick grindcore band, bringing to mind bands like Cephalic Carnage, and even Discordance Axis at times, but at the same time, they don't sound like carbon copies of those bands. Sweet shit, yo!!!

Ten songs, pretty fucking short, but not too bad considering. I have no artwork for this one again, so sob on your keyboard, you over-confident googling completists! Hahaha. They even do a Mayhem cover on this, although I'm not sure if it's the entire song...It seems a little short for a Mayhem song to me.

Sick fast grind band from Boston, MA!!! I've been finding out about sweet grind bands lately in Boston, and I'm pumped that these guys don't let down. Only four songs on this one, clocking in at about 3 minutes, and every single one sounds amazing.

Really sick vocals on this one, but as far as I know they're in the shoppe for a new singer. I think...I know that they were having trouble with that for a little while. Unwound - A Single History

My friend just showed me this band, I think that they're pretty good. 90's style alternative rock, every now and then some mathy parts. I know virtually nothing about this band, they have a shitload of material, and this album in particular collects some random songs from singles, compilations, etc. For some reason, this download included the B-side from their 12" EP, "The Light At The End of The Tunnel is a Train," (the song by the same name) But instead of removing it, I decided to keep it in, to give you more of a feel of the band, I suppose. It's a little Sonic-Youthy to me, but that's not really a bad thing. Really just a long noisy jam just over 10 minutes.

I really dig this band, so just try this shiite. It da bomb.

Yowie - Cryptooology

I can't even begin to describe how amazingly intense and over-the-top this album is. It's just...fucking WOW. Apparently this band took about 3 years to write just these 7 songs. Not because they're lazy, but because...well, you'll know why when you hear it.

All the songs are named after black girls, I guess. Tamika, Trina, Tenesha, Towanda, etc. The band itself is named after the New Zealand version of the Yeti, Sasquatch, or Big Foot; basically just the same thing in a different culture.

I'm pretty sure that this band doesn't use effects pedals at all in they're recording, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong. Just listen, too much shit doesn't make sense. The band is only comprised of two guitarists and a drummer out of St. Louis, and I guess they disbanded due to the drummer's ongoing heroin problem. The album appeared on Skin Graft Records, the best label for crazy music out there. They must have felt right at home.

Palatka - The End Of Irony

So you like powerviolence. So you like screamo. So, why don't you like Palatka? One of my favorites of all time, they have numerous splits with the likes of Assholeparade, The End of the Century Party, and a few others, I'm sure. There's not too much information on this band lying around, so here's what I can muster; they're a band from Florida, supposedly named after the town in Florida, and they only existed for a short while in the late 90s, something like 97-99 or so. This was their last release, and arguably the best. This album is so chaotic, so intense and emotional, that it just floors you. I credit that to short-ass songs and the fact that they have two guitarists playing completely different shit, with a bassist following suit. More than one fucker does vocals on this, so shit. The only complaint that I have about the album is that it's too damn short, but that's a shitty thing to bitch about, really.

BWAAAAAAAAAAH! An amazing powerviolence band from Pennsylvania, and one of my all-time favorites. Not very good quality, seeing as this is just a demo, and I'm pretty sure that it was just a recorded live set.

The liner notes say that it was recorded at "Dan's House" (I'm assuming that it's one of their friends) in Bethlehem, PA. It's a demo of rerecorded previously released songs, comp. tracks, and stuff off of their upcoming full-length at the time. 16 tracks in all, but only one track for it. Elasticdeath - Monster Inside Us

Elasticdeath are a powerviolence band from Brazil, and man, do they fucking THRASH! Whoo! They'll be having a split CD out soon later this year with the Indonesian band Obsesif Kompulsif, a split release between Buddha Khan Records, Teriak Records, Tarung Records, De Wok Records, Sukma Records, and Suhatkore Records. Should be sweet.

Reminiscent of bands like Spazz and Hoy Pinoy, these guys dish it out, hardcore styleeeee. The lyrics range from themes of unity, pollution, and other staples in hardcore, to songs about Shaolin (totally Spazz, yo) and Ultraman. There's even a lyrics sheet in the file. Hell yeah, bitches. A great powerviolence band with a great attitude. I'm hoping these guys stick around for a long time.

Yes. My new "band," made up of myself on guitar and David Carradine's drummer, Kyle. Here's a two song demo by us, one song used to be by Bananafish (yet another one of my projects. Now, as for the music? Sludgy, fucked up grindcore. Lots of fuzz. The song "Blank Expression" was actually written in the studio when we were recording. By the way, keep in mind that we were EXTREMELY high when we recorded this. I fucked up a few times.

A pretty good demo from these sludge/doom metal thrashers. Not bad, not bad at all. With just a little better recording, these guys may end up one fantastic band. I'm hoping to hear more from these guys soon; they have my attention.

At times they can sound like Slayer, at other like Bongzilla or Sleep. They mix a lot of sludgey-doom metal riffs with some pretty sick thrash and sometimes a little grind (blastbeats!!!!) and create a nice mix that's a little different from your average doom metal shit. The only thing lacking is better recordings, but fuck. This is a demo, and should be acknowledged as such; don't shun this band for the recording, but love them for the potential. Plus, these songs ARE really rockin.'

It's a shitty day over here today, so here. O Happy Day. The only other album these guys did other than First Utterance, and not as good by a long shot. In comparison, keeping in mind that this is still the same band, this album BLOWS. But not as bad as the many people shitting on this as you might think. By the way, still a folk band.

Their first album was really trippy, with not as much drums as much as everything else. Just a bunch of different percussion instruments. This album has a more "popular" and accessible sound, complete with a real drumset, like a regular 70s progressive band. Not extremely bad, but also not anything to blow you away with. "Down Like A Movie Star" is probably the best song on this; at least it's my favorite.

YEAH! Mark McCoy's new band. You don't know Mark McCoy? Of Charles Bronson, Das Oath, VMW, and Holy Molar? Well, what a treat. Or, what a waste, depending on how you look at it. You see, this band sounds exactly like Das Oath, or a Das Oath style band, but with less polished recordings and less sarcastic song titles (a la McCoy). Personally, I think that this album is fucking great, being a big fan of the chaotic thrashy punk styles of his former band, but if you were expecting something different, and aren't looking forward to hearing more of the same, then you might want to pass this one up. I was disappointed when Das Oath broke up, so I'm pumped that the style of this band is so similar. I'm wondering if this one will last for more albums though...

The Ed Kemper Trio - Hack(ed)

Look what I came across finally! Fuck yeah! This has to be one of the best rock albums in the past 10 years, easily. Raw, noisy indie rock out of Montgomery, Alabama. Nice album to "pot rock" to, heh. Evey song just gets so intense, it's crazy, I tell ya. Not quite as good as How to win a Swordfight, but it's a fucking close case. Favorite song is "My Pants, On Fire," but almost every song on here kicks just as hard. These guys have been a huge influence to me in my playing, so I'm glad as hell that I finally found this album, along with two others of theirs. V/A Release the Bats: Tribute to the Birthday Party REQUEST

A fuckin' ripper of an album. Three One G put this gem out a year or two before the Queen tribute compilation. The difference between this and the Queen Tribute album, most people that are familiar with Three One G's entourage probably aren't very familiar with the band's songs being covered. Artwork on the album was done by Mark McCoy (Charles Bronson, Das Oath, Holy Molar) and of course good ol' Justin Pearson has his paws all over this shit, seein' as Three One G is his label.

Even still, this one is just as good (if not better; it's all in personal taste, I suppose) as the Queen Tribute, with bands such as Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower with their Swing Kids/jazzcore style, Das Oath with some interesting as usual hardcore, Cattle Decapitation doing a fucking hilarious song (watch the original by The Birthday Party on youtube, and you'll see why it's so funny) and Melt-Banana doing what they do best, which is rock the fucking place with their energetic J-Pop Punk Rock on speed. Also contributing is The Chinese Stars, Ex Models, Get Hustle, Daughters, and Some Girls; plus a ton that I've never heard of until this album.

P.S. The songs may or may not be in this particular order, but all the bands are labeled correctly in the file.

Honestly I don't know the significance of this day, but I don't care. This is an awesome compilation for fans of Three One G's catalogue (and Queen), with bands ranging from The Locust, Das Oath, and Asterisk* to bands like Melt-Banana, Tourettes Lautrec, and Upsilon Acrux, all covering classic Queen songs. Fuck! Weasel Walter of the Flying Luttenbachers also has a song on here, and I have to admit it's one of the weirdest covers I've ever heard of "Bohemian Rhapsody." It can get a bit hard to listen to at times, like Bastard Noise's "cover" of "Lily Of The Valley," or the horrible Glass Candy cover (HORRIBLE!!!!). Only about two or three of these songs sound anything like the original, so don't expect a shitload of repressed Queen-related memories to burst forth and rape your emotional tear-ducts. It's not gonna happen. Do not worry, lad. This compilation will blow your cock off. By the way, this .rar is in mp4 format. I got lazy again, so fuckin' deal with it yo'self, bitch.

Ancient Chinese Secret - Caveat Emptor

Ancient Chinese Secret is another good Chris Dodge (of Spazz fame) project. This being the only album put out by them, and on good ol' sadly defunct Slap-A-Ham Records (Dodge's label) you'd think that you might know what the music would sound like. Don't get me wrong, it's powerviolence....sort of. Chris Dodge's wife (I think) sings on this, with some drummer from some pretty popular pv band (not sure which one). When I say "sings," though, I mean it. She sings on a powerviolence record.

There's a ton of weird shit on this, and it might not be for everyone, but check it out if you're a fan of the majority of Slap-A-Ham's catologue. It is a decent record, and one of the weirder ones. No guitar on this, but there's a few songs with some sound samples. Songs range from half a minute or so to two minutes or more.

Ed Kemper Trio REPOST

I don't think that this band gets enough recognition. I'm posting this for the second time, because by now most of you don't want to look through all of the shit I've put up here so far, and this was one of the very first things I shared with all of you. They're an extremely overlooked band, unfortunately.

Take AC/DC's rawness, Sonic Youth's noisy-ness and some nice grooves and spastic guitar riffs and you get something close to Ed Kemper Trio. They had three or four albums, and this one, being the only one I have as of right now, is fucking killer (I'm not sure about the other albums, but I know that the song "My Pants On Fire" from the album Hack is a sick-ass song).

I found out about these guys from the music documentary "People Will Eat Anything." I think it's still available from the Crucial Balast Webstore. One of the best musical scenes I've ever seen, with almost every band just kicking ass.

A sweet Brazilian slab of (wax?) that fuckin' rips. Chuck Norris is more or less the Brazilian Charles Bronson, and they are insane. Great powerviolence from these guys. Diedinhissuit is a two-man hardcore band, and they are crazy. They offer up two different tracks similar to Fire Horse Monarch and Gasp, but without samples or keyboards.

The Danglers are a great three person instrumental "jazz-core" band, with nice electric violin laid over drums and bass. They offer up one three-part song that I've split up into different tracks. Fans of Zappa's more simple jazz-style works might like this band a lot. This shit is highly recommended, yo!

Karmesi/Perro Muerto Split CD

Fucking wow. Both of these bands are seriously good, and here I was expecting something completely different. Karmesi sound like an intense and more hardcore Mass Movement Of The Moth/Locust hybrid. Perro Muerto sounds like a cross between D.S.-13 and Los Crudos (I dunno. Close enough) , but with some nice grindy thrashy vocals. Fucking intense split.

Definitely worth your time, especially since it ins't all that long. You can have a nice smoke, listen to this, etc. Fuck Yeah. Everything is really well recorded, with each band doing 3 songs alternating.

More good bass-driven hardcore from The Judas Iscariot, backed with more Seein' Red. Now I still just can't get into Seein' Red, no matter how hard I try. I've tried, but it just doesn't do it for me. It's a real chore, it is.

I fucking love the Judas Iscariot, for their odd song lyrics and jazz intervals, and also being the first band I got into that only has a bass, a drummer, and a singer. They do eight more tracks, while Seein' Red do twelve.
